Is there actually a difference between the 9th edition and 10th edition of a textbook? Because the 10th edition is about 400 dollars at the NYU bookstore and the 9th edition is fifty dollars on Amazon and I know which one I personally would prefer.

I know this is going to sound weird coming from me, but no book is worth 400 dollars.

Depends on the class. Different homework for things like physics and chemistry. Kind of a scam. I used to just go look at the copies of the new books on reserve at the library.

It's an intro to Psychology class. I can't imagine too much has changed between 2013 and 2016?

Yeah, you're probably fine. Take extra notes on anything that sounds weird or unfamiliar.

Seriously? Four hundred dollars?

And I thought I was feeling ripped of with a political science textbook for 150 with the earlier edition much cheaper... But no... they had to change the examples in the book.

Does take a bit of the fun out of it, doesn't it?

I have a professor who makes us buy his book on Linear Control Systems, even though we only spent a few sessions talking about it before moving on.It was on the exam though...not sure how I feel about that.

Textbook market is a HUGE scam. For a non-math/science class you can probably get away with the old edition, although if your prof gives page/chapter assignments stuff may be organized differently. If you have homework from the book, def worth looking at most current edition (either another student or library copies).
